Reasons why you are not getting more organic (FREE) search engine traffic
Webmaster Reources Add commentsI just got this spam about someone who says they can help our site. When I saw that they said we only had 70 backlinks at Yahoo, I knew that was not true. I checked and we have about 2,700 backlinks. So this guy is either stupid or a liar.
If being a spammer is not bad enough, this should make it clear that you cannot trust people that market their businss in this way. After all, if they know how to do SEO and link building, why would they have to send email spam? If it doesn't work for them, how can it work for you...????

Comments: Dear web site Team,
I thought you might like to know some of the reasons why you are not getting more organic (FREE) search engine traffic for your site
1. Your home page rank is 4, this can be improved further.
2. Open directory listing is not available.
3. Your site has 70 yahoo back links, this can be improved further.
There are many additional improvements that could be made to your website, and if you would like to learn about them, and are curious to know what our working together would involve, then I would be glad to provide you with a detailed analysis in the form of a SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO) SITE REPORT.
To brief you about our company, in addition to SEO, we provide Social Media Optimization (SMO) and reputation management for our clients. Our efforts on behalf of our clients have brought thousands of keywords to the first page of Google organic search results with excellent conversion rates. I will be happy to provide you with a list of clients with contact details, keyword rankings, etc. Our clients will be happy to talk with you about their experience with our services.
Our clients consistently tell us that their customers find them because they are at the top of the Google search rankings. Being at the top left of Google (#1- #5 organic positions) is the best thing you can do for your company\'s website traffic and online reputation.
Sounds interesting? Feel free to email us or alternatively you can provide us with your phone number and the best time to call you.

We've been getting hit by them every few days.
Here is what I just sent them in response:

Alex Jonathan/Joe Mathew/San Mulder et. al:
OK folks- despite two prior emails requesting removal and a follow up phonecall from me this morning to "Joe" at 347-352-8883, you have AGAIN sent me unsolicited email (xxxxxx@infobunker.com), not 12 hours after the last one, and over half a dozen in the last month. I just called again and talked to "Alex" (who sounded almost exactly like "Joe") and who told me we would be removed.
This is YOUR LAST CHANCE to turn it off or I swear to you I will turn you over to the Feds and will not stop until you have been fined or had your IPs blocked.

How many times must I ask before I have to threaten you with a lawsuit? You are clogging up our email with worthless advertising. DO NOT SEND ANY MORE EMAILS TO ANY INFOBUNKER.COM extension.
Do we understand each other?

Most of the time you are wasting your time talking with people like this that are spamming. If you are interested, I can post a sample of the template I use for spam reports and detailed instructions.
All you have to do is do 2 WHOIS lookups and you can file a spam report that will result in the spammer's hosting account being closed about 70% of the time, and suspension of the domain they use about 50% of the time. Using a 3rd lookup may also result in the ISP account used to send the spam being closed about 30% of the time.
Q. What are the penalties for violating the CAN-SPAM Act?
A. Each separate email in violation of the law is subject to penalties of up to $16,000, and more than one person may be held responsible for violations. For example, both the company whose product is promoted in the message and the company that originated the message may be legally responsible. Email that makes misleading claims about products or services also may be subject to laws outlawing deceptive advertising, like Section 5 of the FTC Act. The CAN-SPAM Act has certain aggravated violations that may give rise to additional fines. The law provides for criminal penalties – including imprisonment – for:
* accessing someone else’s computer to send spam without permission,
* using false information to register for multiple email accounts or domain names,
* relaying or retransmitting multiple spam messages through a computer to mislead others about the origin of the message,
* harvesting email addresses or generating them through a dictionary attack (the practice of sending email to addresses made up of random letters and numbers in the hope of reaching valid ones), and
* taking advantage of open relays or open proxies without permission.
All their emails come from Gmail accounts so tracking them by WHOIS is not going to help. Spammers also use 'disposable' domains and buy big blocks of IPs just knowing that someone is going to block them so that tactic is also of limited utility. If I really wanted it to stop I could just as easily ask our network admin to firewall their IPs or set my email filter to ignore anything with the words "Organic SEO" or the like in it as well. But, I'd rather they blunder themselves into a real problem, and I'm happy to help them do so.
If I was vindictive I *might* even go so far as to suggest that anyone who has gotten this spam or just wants to have a little fun with them call them from a throwaway account (or from a ID-blocked number) at their voice line, which is no doubt a Google Voice account linked to their cell phone, at random times (perhaps after midnight?) to ask them if they have any specials or discounted offers, or even to ask them if they feel a little guilty about annoying people....
Oh, and regarding our data center...and thanks for the shout-out!.. while it *is* nuclear-hardened courtesy of the military we don't really push that aspect as we don't really expect that the Midwest will ever be nuked in today's world! Instead, we focus on all the things that went along with the hardening...like massive redundancies, EMP shielding and incredible resiliency to natural disasters. This allows us to provide incredibly high uptime (currently at over six nines, with five years in business) at very low cost to our clients.
Even if I was to pursue someone under CANSPAM I don't know that it would be worth my time and expense, so I take the easy route and just report them. :-)
The infobunker.com facility sounds awesome and I didn't mean to be sarcastic with my comments, I was wondering if there were other places like that which I could purchase as a home. :-)
I am dropping by to say that i agree with this topic. I have bookmarked this site and will be back soon to be updated of what's happening here and also let my friends know about your site. This is one of the SPAM comment topics i like to discuss about.Thank you
